Mole Day

Today, the 23rd of October, is MOLE DAY...

 Not one of these moles....

But a unit of measurement used in chemistry!

1 mole = 6.022 x 10^23 (molecules/atoms/particles).

For example, 1 mole of Salt (NaCl) means there is 6.022 x 10^23 molecules of salt... get it?!
The big number is known as Avogadro's constant. The number is named after Amedeo Avogadro who was a scientist from Turin. A bit of a weird looking fella...

....but anyways!

Mole Day is celebrated on the 23rd of October due to the second half of the number... 10^23
So embrace your inner nerd and confuse the hell out of people by saying
Happy Mole Day!! :D
